There is an unwritten law in the world of theatre that states that people working backstage on a production should be neither seen nor heard by the audience. Thus the two upcoming productions by the Cayman Drama Society may seem a bit hypocritical.

"Easy Stages" is an hilarious farce that explores the trials and tribulations of working behind the scenes of a community theatre. duction of "Hamlet". With only two days left to work out how to shift the scenery, everything is going haywire and beginning to seem hopeless.

The stage-manager gets frustrated and annoyed regularly while his good-natured, yet seemingly incompetent, stage hands botch all of his well-thought-out plans. To make matters worse one person is missing and the director of the show persistently adds more items to the stage that will have to be shifted.

In "Don't Blame it on the Boots", the same production is seen from the point of the actors. Problems are constantly arising, and friction forms between some of the thespians. This time it's the director who must extinguish the fires between the players, and coordinate everyone successfully in order to have a good production of "Hamlet".

Under the direction of Penny Phillips, these two shows give the audience a very funny insight into what goes on behind the red velvet curtain.

The shows can be seen at the Prospect Playhouse every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. day between 22 July and 7 August at 7:30p.m. Friday and Saturday performances are for dinner theatre, although non-dinner seating will be available as well. Tickets for dinner cost $25. Non-dinner tickets cost $12.50 for adults or $6 for children. For more information call Omeria at 949-5585.
