I have been requested by the Committee of the Cayman Drama society to write regarding your issue of Friday 4 January specifically in regard to your article "Taking a look at the local year of 1990." It was fascinating to take a trip down memory lane and realise how quickly one forgets events that appear of great magnitude when they occur.

It therefore saddened us that no mention was made of the opening of the Prospect Playhouse, the Cayman Drama Society's new theatre at Red Bay, which took place in October. Your newspaper had earlier given us a magnificent boost with your article on the Playhouse written by Samantha DeFreitas, showing the progress of the building through the year, and we were very surprised to find ourselves forgotten in your review of 1990. The building of the Playhouse was a mas-

terpiece. sive undertaking on the part of the Society, especially considering we are a "not for profit" group comprised of over two hundred members from all walks of life, and still have the energy to bring live entertainment to audiences.

Many of these members gave up most of their spare time throughout 1990 to work on the construction of the Playhouse and would, I am sure, have been delighted to see the fruits of their labours mentioned in your review. We realise that you could not include each and every event of 1990 but we did feel that this particular one warranted at least a mention in passing. Penny Phillips Secretary, Cayman Drama Society
