Over the last three weekends in May, the Cayman Drama Society will present "Two Plus Food" dinner theatre at a new theatre named the Victory.
The Victory Theatre is located on West Bay Road above the Lord Nelson Pub, hence the name Victory.
The first offering is a fast-paced farce "Chinamen". The action takes place in the living-room of a suburban house. Stephen and Jo, played by newcomer Sandi Cook and Colin Whittingham, are having a dinner party. They have invited Bee, who has recently separated from her husband, along with her new "hippy" boyfriend. Unfortunately, Stephen has also invited the husband. The evening is spent with lots of closing and opening doors, keeping everyone apart.
The twist to this production is the fact that all five characters are played by Sandi and Colin. THe title is drawn from the saying, "All Chinamen look alike".
After the comedy, dinner will be served.
The second play is "The Monkey's Paw" - a classic horror story. Set in the front room of a small house in London, John and Jenny White, played by Colin Wilson and Hilda Bodden, dote on their only child, Herbert, played by Peter O'Sullivan. An evening spent with an old army friend brings forth stories of Indian magic - baskets, ropes and disappearing fakirs and a monkey's paw that is supposed to have the ability to grant three wishes, make for a very exciting play.
The "Two Plus Two" dinner theatre will be running on last three Fridays and Saturday of May, except 20 May when the play will be showing on Sunday 21 May.
This is the first time we will be running a play on a Sunday and we are interested to see what response we will get, said a theatre spokesman.
The public are asked to buy their tickets in advance.
"There will be no tickets sold at the door as we have to know the number of people coming in advance for catering purposes, said the spokesman.
The dinner will be served between shows at an estimated time of 8:30. For tickets, call Phillips Electrical at 95585.
