Master of Ceremonies, John Martin, was superb in his handling of the job, bringing out roars of laughter from the audience with his witty introductions.
Just before the presentations, two of the Lawrence sisters, Laura and Charmaine, accompanied by Wendy Daykin, entertained the gathering with a dance, the theme of which was taken from the musical show, 'The Wiz'.
But without a doubt, the highlight of the evening was an exquisite ballet dance by four 'dainty' members: Peter Wootton, Bill Bazelmans, Peter Phillips and Cyril Garbut. These graceful characters pranced about the stage to the tuneful, 'I feel Pretty', "West Side Story."
A special mini golden conch was given to the Society's Chairman, Mike Marshall, for his magnificient portrayal as the corpose in "the Real Inspector Hound."
The award for the best leading actor went to Nick Press for his outstanding role as Jerry in Chase me Comrade and the Best Actress award to Meg Patterson who played Lady Cynthia Muldoon in the Real Inspector Hound. Other golden conchs awarded during the evening included; For Best Supporting Actress - Ann Smith as Nancy Rimmington in "Chase me, Comrade."
Best Supporting Actor, Steve Williams. as Commander Rimmington in, "Chase me, Comrade."
Best Character Actress - Pat Stapeley as Mrs. Drudge in, "The Real Inspector Hound."
Best Character Actor - Terry Murphy as Petrovyan in "Chase me, Comrade." Best Male Cameo, Stewart Hurst as Hoskins the gardener in "Chase me, Comrade."
Best Set Design - Margaret Barwick for her efforts in "Chase me, Comrade."
Best Stage Manager -Graham Stapeley in, "The Real Inspector Hound."
Best Producer - Trish Mellin in, "The Real Inspector Hound."
Best Director -Mike Parker in "Chase me, Comrade." Chairman Awards, Peter and Penny Phillips for their all-round help in productions and for the organisation of the Club night held at Royal Palms in October.
Best Newcomer Male Martin Couch as Simon in, "The Real Inspector Hound."

Trust. Two games from Hamstead, a book from Hobbies and Books, 1½ litres of wine from Overton Traders and a plant from Vigero Nursery.
