The Cayman Drama Society has elected its Committee for 1977. At a record turn-out for the Annual General Meeting, Gale Shaw was returned as Chairman for another year, with Angela Crichton and Tony Staples retaining their offices of Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Mary Rees, Peter Phillips and Michael Austin kept their positions on the Committee and three new members were elected, Georgia McSorley, Judy Dredge and Bill Bazelmans.

The new Committee has already met to formulate plans for the 1977 Season. Neil Simon's hilarious comedy, PLAZA SUITÉ, will be the first production, and this is scheduled for the first two weekends in February. Joan Austin is in charge of production, and it will be directed by Jack Dredge.

It is hoped that more members than ever (and we now have over a hundred) will be involved in future productions. To further this end, it is planned to introduce an apprenticeship programme. This way, each director, producer, stage manager and sound and lighting manager will have a learner assigned to him ((or her). Anyone wishing to participate this way in plaza suite should contact Joan Austin at 93383 to see if any of the apprenticeships are still unfilled.

Three more shows will be put on during the year, and one of these will be a musical. One of the most difficult tasks which falls to the C.D.S. committee is that of choosing plays, and the members are now busily reading scripts with a view to 1977 productions. They would, of course, be grateful for any suggestions from the public, but it should be kept in mind that the size of the Town Hall makes it impossible for us to put on some of the more lavish productions, and there are other physical limitations which preclude such shows as HAIR.
