The current year ends with a deficit of $114,302, unless revenue collection and estimates for the period November to December 1975 are above the estimated figure. Estimated revenue for 1976 is $10,611,395, and expenditure a total of $11,615,163. The Financial Secretary stated the figure had been even more alarming earlier in the year, but expenditure had been cut, and in the new year the road programme and airport renovation will not be continued Our Festival of Arts for 1975 is here. There is something for everyone so make your plans to clear the week of Nov. 22 to 29. Make time for some top quality entertainment. Whatever your interests may be, you're sure to find something to please you.
Preparations have been made to open the Festival on the day set aside to honor the Patron Saint of music-Saint Cecilia's Day. The management committee has worked diligently and tirelessly to produce a Festival that will be a credit to all. Much local talent is being utilized and for some extra glamor and thrills we will have excellent performers from abroad.
Are you ready to hear what's ahead for you? OK lend an ear.
Opening ceremony will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 22 on the steps of the Courts Building. Music by Q.S.M.F.A. will be followed by a Baton Parade presented by our local policemen. To signify. the formal opening of the Festival, a limestone kiln which is being erected by Mr. Lindberg Eden will be lighted. The kiln will be used throughout the Festival and the making of limestone will be demonstrated. If the over-a-century-old-Cayman home is successfully moved, the limestone will be used to rebuild the missing panels in the house. This was the wattle and daub construction method widely used by early Caymanians to build their homes.
Following the opening ceremonies, those lucky enough to have tickets will then wend their way to the premiere of the film "Upon the Seas." Following this, if you're not ready to end the evening, you may go hear the Cayman Singers present their programme "Roundabout" under the capable direction of Mr. Larry Hobson. What better way to bring a close to St. Cecilia's Day?
On Sunday the CMVC is presenting a programme of Sacred Music. It will be a one time only performance so don't miss it.
Also on Sunday will be an Island Tour conducted by Kiwanis as well as a Ski Show presented by Adrian Briggs of Sunset House. Boat races and Tennis exhibitions may be booths. To welcome you in the booths are Ed Oliver, D. Smith, Agriculture Society, Dept. of Agriculture, Brigade, Duke of Edinburg, Garden Club, Scouts, Caribe Island Jewelry, Mini Golf, Terry Crafts, Conservation Society, West Bay Community, Rope and Basket making etc.
