The Charter was presented by Mr. Davis, President of Kiwanis International.
Among the guests who attended the banquet were His Excellency the Governor Mr. Thomas Russell, Chief Secretary Desmond Watler, Senior Administrative Secretary Dennis Foster, Bodden Town representatives James Bodden and Haig Bodden, Past President of Rotary and President of the Chamber of Commerce Captain Theo Bodden, Lions representative Peter Balls, Jaycees representative Herbert Martin, and representatives from Kiwanis Clubs in Jamaica and U.S. After the induction ceremony, gifts were presented by sponsoring clubs in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Maple Heights, Ohio.
The gifts were accepted by Mr. James O. Smith, President of the Cayman branch of Kiwanis International. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Charter by Mr. Davis, which Mr. J. Smith accepted on behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman. During Mr. Smith's speech, he pointed out that he hoped Kiwanis had started by serving the Cayman Islands; "If President Davis helps us to be given some kind words in the Kiwanis magazine, which will get in the hands of some 280,000 business and professional men we will have done a great service to Cayman Tourism and business without costing the Tourist Board one penny."
Mr. Smith in conclusion noted "We hope you will enjoy the ceremonies with us and that the slogan of Kiwanis "We Build" will become a reality on Grand Cayman." Fellowship and dancing followed the ceremony.
