Guest speaker at the meeting was Eric Bergstrom, Director of Tourism, who gave a very interesting and informative speech about tourism and the construction industry in Cayman over the past year. His prognostication for the coming year in these areas was interesting, but did not represent a very bright outlook. Arrangements are now underway for the Charter Party Banquet, with George Cawell as Chairman of the Charter Party Committee. International President Roy W. Davis will make a special trip from Chicago, Illinois, to present the charter and flags to the Grand Cayman Kiwanis Club. A large contingent of Kiwanians from the Ohio area plan to be here, and the gong and gavel will be presented by President James O. Smith's former club of Maple Heights, Ohio, and the Ohio 23rd Division (of which James O. Smith was Lieutenant Governor) will present working materials.
It is expected that clubs from Miami and Jamaica will join in the ceremonials. The Kiwanis Club meets every Thursday noon in the Holiday Inn's main dining room. The president is James O. Smith and Song Leader is Steve McTaggart.
Every week there is a different planned programme. At the meeting on February 27 guest speaker Bill White will talk about "Christianity and the Communist Countries" All men affiliated with a business or profession and not members of another service club are invited to visit club meetings and state their desire if they wish to join.
