No, it's not a rare specimen to be exhibited by the Audubon Society, but the Cayman Drama Society's next production. Scheduled for production the last week in July, the Secretary Bird, by William Douglas Home, is a sophisticated light comedy which ran for years in London starring Kenneth More, and which has only recently been released for amateurs. For this play the Drama Society has separated the job of Producer and Director. Evelyn Andresen is in charge of production, and anyone interested in helping backstage should telephone her at 2185. This will be Evelyn's first time on the production side, but Cayman audiences will remember her as Buttercup in H.M.S. Pinafore, and one of the old gossips in Johnny Belinda last year. Jack Dredge, (who played the doctor in Johnny Belinda) is directing the play, and for the cast he has chosen Liz King for the title role. This will be Liz's first time on the Cayman stage, but she was a frequent performer with a group in Leicester, England. Other parts will be played by Angela Crichton, whose last appearance on stage was in Black Comedy last summer;

Judith Dredge (the other old gossip in Johnny Belinda); and Jack O'Connell who appeared in the C.D.S.'s production of Wait Until Dark, and more recently as one of Nick Press's “doubles” in

One for the Pot. The fifth member of the cast is Mike Maberley who takes the Kenneth More role. Mike is another newcomer to the Cayman stage, but is an old-timer in Jamaica and Fiji. There was a very good turn-out for the auditions a few weeks ago which were held at Harbour Heights Marina. Many thanks to our popular President, Skip McSorley, for letting us use his facilities.
