Since joining the Society back in 1970 Nick has with only one exception "played it straight" in all his appearances on the Cayman stage.

Regular Patrons of Cayman Drama Society will remember Nick Press - Hickory Wood his first performance as an escaped P.O.W. in "See How They Come" back in November 1970. Although it was a farce fate determined that Nick should take the villainous part. 1972 saw him as Sydney, the poker-backed nagging landlady's son with a face like poisoned ivy in yet another comedy "Worms Eye View". The same year Nick was the overworked joyless brother "Noah" in "The Rainmaker".

"Love's A Luxury" however gave Nick his first opportunity for comic acting and audiences saw another facet of his acting ability. Unfortunately though, actors sometimes get type-cast and it seemed inevitable that he should take the part of the rapist, McCormick, in "Johnny Belinda". ..Out of the rut once more, Nick has now landed himself with what is probably the greatest comedy part to emerge from British theatre in the last twenty years.

Hickory Wood in the Cayman Drama Society's forthcoming production "One For The Pot" is one of the funniest characters ever created by a playwright and requires fantastic acting versatility and an ability to change character at a moments notice. Split-second timing as well as acting "kow how" is imperative to the success of the play.

Nick is very proud to have been given this very coveted part which put the already successful Brian Rix right at the top as a result of his portrayal of H.W. in the London production.
